The Saga of KMA
Manipur is reeling under a wave of ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Chin-Kuki communities. Many lives have been lost and thousands have been rendered homeless in the ensuing violence. The Meitei diaspora residing in the state of Karnataka felt an urgent urge to step-in and provide some sort of humanitarian assistance to our unfortunate fellow citizens in Manipur.
Like minded individuals of Meitei brothers and sisters in Karnataka came together and informally organized themselves as a group and started to contribute and arrange for these humanitarian aids. The members started to meet regularly and discussed the need to establish a formal association to continue our social efforts. Moreover, since our activities also involve monetary contribution, we needed to make our activities more transparent and comply with the authorities.
As a continuation of our pursuance, Karnataka Meitei Association (KMA) became a formal and registered body under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 (Karnataka No. 17 of 1960 Act) on 11th July 2023 vied registration number DRB3/SOR/176/2023-2024. An executive governing body was elected and a core committee was constituted as per the guidelines. The group vows to mobilize the masses in an effort to continue with the humanitarian activities. Apart, we are also making strides to chart out activities for the welfare of Meitei expatriates in Karnataka and our people back in our homeland. The body plans to organize events and gatherings as deemed necessary in the course of time. Transparency and commitment of the members remains a core quality of the association.
OUR MISSION
At Karnataka Meitei Association, our mission is to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the Meitei community in Karnataka. We were founded in 2023 by a group of passionate community members who wanted to create a platform for celebrating our culture and promoting social welfare. Since then, we have organized numerous cultural events, festivals, and community service activities that have brought together members of the community and helped us achieve our mission. Join us and be a part of our journey to preserve and promote the Meitei culture in Karnataka.

1) Camp Relief Activities:
Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to distribute essential supplies, including medicine, food, water, clothing etc to those in need. We've witnessed firsthand the positive impact these efforts have had on the affected communities.
2) Funding for the Needy:
Thanks to the generous contributions from supporters like you, we've been able to provide financial assistance to individuals and families who have been hit hardest by recent challenges. This financial aid has helped cover medical expenses, education costs, and basic living expenses, ensuring that vulnerable individuals can rebuild their lives.
3) Sit-in Protest:
In response to pressing social and environmental issues, we've initiated in peaceful sit-in protests to raise awareness and advocate for change. These protests have been instrumental in drawing attention to important causes and encouraging dialogue among stakeholders. We are committed to working toward solutions that benefit all members of our community.
4) Our mission remains steadfast:
To make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most. We understand the importance of transparency and accountability in our work, and we are always available to answer any questions or provide more detailed information about our activities.
