Bridging Healthcare Gaps: Free Medical Camp in Phayeng, Manipur




In a commendable collaborative effort, KARNATAKA MEITEI ASSOCIATION (KMA), THAOMEI FOUNDATION ,Manipur, GLOBAL MANIPUR FEDERATION,TAIWAN and MEIRA SPORTING UNION,MANIPUR joined forces to organize a free medical camp on December 25, 2023. The event took place at Phayeng High School, aiming to extend essential healthcare services to those in need, especially the inmates of the nearby relief camp.


Event Overview: More than 18 dedicated doctors, including specialists like Gynecologists, ENT specialists, Physicians, Oncologists, Dentists, and others, gathered to volunteer their expertise. The primary focus was on providing comprehensive medical care to over 100 patients, primarily inmates of the relief camp at Phayeng High School and the surrounding areas.


Community Collaboration: The collaboration between KMA, THAOMEI FOUNDATION, GLOBAL MANIPUR FEDERATION, and MEIRA SPORTING UNION exemplifies the power of communities coming together for a shared humanitarian cause. By leveraging our collective resources and networks, we can successfully orchestrated a significant healthcare initiative.


Medical Services Offered: The medical camp catered to a diverse range of healthcare needs. Patients had access to consultations with specialists in women's health, ear, nose, and throat issues, general medicine, oncology, dentistry, and more. This comprehensive approach ensured that various health concerns were addressed under one roof.


Impact on Relief Camp Inmates: The significance of the medical camp was particularly pronounced for the inmates of the relief camp. Amidst the challenges they face, receiving quality healthcare services becomes crucial. The camp not only addressed immediate health issues but also created awareness about preventive measures and long-term well-being.


Transparency and Accountability: KMA's commitment to transparency was reflected in the open and accountable management of the event. The active participation of over 18 medical professionals, each contributing their expertise voluntarily, showcased the sincerity of the initiative.
